As part of its five-year plan to tackle domestic abuse facing children, Foundations reveals that one in five children in England and Wales are victims of domestic abuse adding that the social and economic cost of domestic abuse is estimated to be £74bn.

The organisation's plan, entitled ‘REACH’ (Researching Effective Approaches for Children), aims to tackle the domestic abuse issue affecting children across the country.

It urges government to pledge £50m in the next Spending Review to find out what works to prevent abuse and support victims.

Foundations will provide £2.6m to fund and evaluate six programmes to support children affected by domestic abuse, including prevention services, family-based work and therapeutic support.
