From providing after-school, breakfast and holiday clubs, it now offers extended school facilities and training for staff and parents.
Its head of service Fiona Mortlock says: "We have moved into the extended schools agenda as it has become relevant. We work with local authorities and schools to help them fulfil the childcare part of the agenda."
All clubs are registered with Ofsted, with staff recruited from the community, including parents. Mortlock says Schoolfriendetc has a turbulent relationship with Ofsted, which she says does not recognise the value of the play provision Schoolfriendetc offers.
Aiming to provide a place for all ages, Schoolfriendetc works in infant, primary and high schools providing groups for children aged between four and 16 years old.
