In the November edition of CYP Now: Early intervention policing; intrafamilial abuse; and recruiting social workers

1 min read
The November edition of CYP Now assesses the increasingly vital role police forces in England play in early intervention to prevent problems among young people and troubled families from escalating.

Chief inspectors from Lancashire and Northamptonshire explain how their constabularies have used knowledge of adverse childhood experiences to shape how they work with other agencies to provide early help.

The 12-page special report in November's issue is on the challenges of responding to the different forms of intrafamilial abuse. Practice examples include: the domestic violence advisory service in Blackpool, Newport Council's Family Assessment and Support Service run with Barnardo's, family safeguarding in Hertfordshire, and multi-agency information sharing in Sheffield.

The main feature looks at the challenges of recruiting and retaining children's social workers - with councils sharing their experiences of what strategies and campaigns have paid dividends.
