Official figures show there were 294 young people aged 25 or under sleeping rough on the capital’s streets between April and June 2024.

This is a 36 per cent increase on the same period the previous year.

The rise comes amid an increase in rough sleeping among all ages in London over the same period. Between April and June this year 4,223 people were seen sleeping on the streets, up by around a third on the previous year.

Youth homelessness charity Centrepoint warns that the latest figures “reflect only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the scale of homelessness in the capital”, as the figures do not consider “hidden homelessness”.
