The number of health visitors is continuing to fall, with latest statistics showing the total is now more than 10 per cent below the peak of October 2015.

Figures published by the NHS today show that in January 2017 there were a total of 9,259 full-time equivalent health visitors employed in the NHS, compared with 10,309 in October 2015 - a drop of 10.2 per cent.
