The calls come in a National Skills Forum report, just weeks after analysis of the latest unemployment figures reveal the recession has left young black people twice as likely to be unemployed than their white counterparts.
Recommendations in the report include the need for the Department for Children Schools and Families (DCSF) to work with local authorities and voluntary organisations to inform the parents of BME young people about the full range of training options available to their children.
The inquiry also proposes that the DCSF and the Training and Development Agency address negative aspirations of BME students by enhancing career guidance.
