Fathers must have access to flexible working hours to deal with the stress of parenthood

Employers need to do more to support fathers deal with the stress of parenthood, according to a report by Working Families.

The charity and Lancaster University Management School have surveyed 1,100 working fathers over the last year and found that flexible working is one of the most effective ways to avoid the stress of parenthood among men.

The research found that  flexible working conditions are less available in traditional male dominated workplaces and fewer men than women request flexible working. When requests are made, men are also less likely than women to have them accepted or win a tribunal after being turned down.
