The independent panel will advise Education Secretary Gillian Keegan on the controversial review of statutory guidance that governs the teaching of RSHE in schools, which was announced earlier this year.
Panel members work across health, child development and safeguarding and will begin advising on the review immediately, according to DfE.
Among the five advisors are Imperial College London’s professor of obstetrics and gynaecology Lesley Reagan, and chief social worker for children and families, Isabelle Trowler.
Also on the panel are Helena Brothwell, regional director of school improvement for David Ross Academy Trust, and Hamid Patel, chief executive of Star Academies.
“The panel will offer insight on how schools can deliver a high quality RSHE curriculum for all our young people in a way that is age-appropriate, objective and wisely informed by the needs and views of children, parents and families from all backgrounds, across the country,” said Patel.
