James Rennie, 38, was one of eight members of a paedophile ring in Scotland who were convicted of offences related to child abuse and possessing indecent images of children.
Rennie was also found guilty of conspiring to get access to children to abuse them.
The men were traced through Lothian and Borders Police's Operation Algebra, which involved the seizure of 125,000 indecent images.
All eight men will be sentenced at a later date.
The national board of LGBT Youth Scotland, which supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people, said it was "appalled" by the "abuse and exploitation" committed by Rennie.
"Lothian and Borders Police have been clear that their investigations concerned James Rennie personally and not LGBT Youth Scotland as an organisation. Indeed, the police have welcomed our full co-operation and support for their investigation," the group said in a statement.
Rennie, who is also a former chairman of Scotland's Voluntary Organisations Chief Officers Group, was suspended by LGBT Youth Scotland following his arrest early last year. He resigned at a subsequent disciplinary hearing.
