Amani Simpson, chief executive of youth empowerment organisation AVIARD Inspires spoke to CYP Now about the programme, saying it has been “inspiring to see the stories of young people who have come through the programme”.
The six-month programme caters to black and black mixed-race 16-to 18-year-olds of all genders who have faced systemic pressures and made ill-informed decisions, and are “worthy of a second chance or confidence boost, whether they’ve been kicked out of school, arrested, or left school with low GCSEs for example”, said Simpson.
The London-based programme is a collaboration between AVIARD Inspires, Goldman Sachs bank, Hogan Lovells law firm and mentoring organisation Mentivity, and is designed to target young people who may not easily accessed through schools.
