An unannounced Ofsted inspection found that leadership provided by the management team in the area was clear and effective with effective systems in place to ensure staff are accountable for their work.
It was found that there were no delays in allocation, intervention or reporting on any case, an improvement noted as outstanding by Ofsted in the context of previous long delays.
However, concerns were raised that although the quality assurance system was applied consistently, judgments made by managers about the standard of work are often inaccurate and are in need of further moderation.
Anthony Douglas, chief executive at Cafcass, said: "As the report points out, adapting our service and working proportionately according to the needs of each child’s case has been key in enabling us to help the many more children now being referred to us."
