A government survey, published on 16 July, calls on local authority children’s services departments, charities, social workers and providers of adoption and foster care and residential children’s home placements among others to share their views on the extension of three relaxations which are due to expire on 24 September.

If approved, the extension would be in place until 31 March 2021, the consultation document states.

The amendments were introduced in April through the Adoption and Children (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2020, also known as Statutory Instrument 445, in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
