
The memorandum of understanding sets out that the two bodies will disclose and share information to enable them to carry out their "powers, duties and operational objectives" relating to safeguarding children and young people.
This will include information received by Ofsted from local authorities on "notifiable incidents".
Both bodies have also agreed to share with each other information they receive about the decisions made by local safeguarding children boards (LSCBs) about the initiation and publication of serious case reviews.
"This [memorandum] provides a framework for Ofsted and the DfE to co-operate and communicate constructively so as to carry out their independent roles and separate functions," the document, published today, states.
