The survey, which will feature on the ITV show Chris Tarrant: Who Wants To Be A Teacher? Tonight, also found that four out of 10 teachers suffered a loss of confidence after dealing with such pupils.
When dealing with disruptive pupils 17 per cent said they had been physically attacked and 59 per cent said they have a disruptive student in their class.
Among primary school teachers more than half believed that behaviour of pupils had become worse in the past five years.
Exclusion is still commonly used by many schools to deal with disruptive pupils, with 44 per cent of teachers saying that pupils at their school had been excluded for behavioural reasons.
