The fund, which opened in January, is intended to support youth organisations, including grassroots groups, uniformed youth groups and umbrella organisations, impacted by the pandemic in a bid to help them remain open.

The NAO’s investigation into government funding to charities during the Covid-19 pandemic finds that a total of £23m of funding ringfenced as part of support schemes has not yet been awarded or dispersed.

The Youth Covid Support Fund makes up the majority of the unspent funding, the report shows, with none of it having been either allocated to charities or disbursed by 19 February when the investigation concluded.
