Council moves out of 'inadequate' following Ofsted inspection

2 mins read Social Care
Ofsted has praised improvements in children's services at Lancashire County Council, lifting its rating from "inadequate" to "requires improvement".

During their visit in June, inspectors found that over the last six months Lancashire Council had accelerated the pace of improvements after a slow start following their inadequate judgment three years ago.

The inspection team praised a restructuring in the department that has included creating a new post of executive director of education and children's services and placing social workers in specialist teams covering small local areas, rather than in generic teams.

This has helped speed up the response to children considered to be in immediate risk of harm and ensure they are swiftly referred to the relevant local team.
