Poorest families hardest hit by Covid-19

Families living in the most disadvantaged areas of England have seen the highest death rates from coronavirus, new figures from the Office for National Statistics show.

London boroughs with high levels of socio-economic deprivation have been particularly badly affected by the pandemic, a new report states.

The figures from March to May show that people living in the poorest 10 per cent of England died at a rate of 128.3 per 100,000, compared with a rate of 58.8 per 100,000 among those living in the wealthiest 10 per cent of the country.
