Conservative conference: Gove supports Teach First charity opening its own schools

1 min read Education
The shadow children's secretary has supported the idea of educational charity Teach First opening its own schools.

In addition to the promise to expand the charity made in his speech yesterday, Michael Gove said he would be "hugely supportive" of setting up schools run by the organisation.

Teach First is a charity supported by donations, schools and the Department for Children, Schools and Families, which recruits exceptional graduates and places them in the most challenging schools in the country.

Speaking at a fringe event at the Conservative Party conference entitled Realising Every Child's Potential he said: "I would be hugely enthusiastic and supportive of the idea of Teach First setting up schools.

"We should start working with alumni from the programmes so their aspirations are incorporated."
