Children's Commissioner for England recruits 'evidence expert'

The Children's Commissioner for England has appointed a director of evidence to help lead delivery of her five-year plan for children. ??

Professor Leon Feinstein will join the Office of the Children’s Commissioner in July from the Early Intervention Foundation. His previous roles have included working as chief analyst at the Cabinet Office’s implementation unit, working in the Prime Minister’s delivery unit, and spending time at The Treasury.

In addition, he has also worked as the head of the evidence and analysis unit in the Office for Criminal Justice Reform at the Ministry of Justice.?? He will continue to work with the Early Intervention Foundation as a research associate.

He said: “Anne's ambitious strategy for children comes at a critical time and represents a vital mission.

??“I look forward to helping to ensure real improvement to the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people, using the best possible data and evidence, including the voices of the children themselves.

“I have been honoured to be part of setting up the Early Intervention Foundation and will leave behind an organisation that boasts a hugely talented and committed team and will only go from strength to strength.”

Longfield said: "Leon's research has had a tremendous influence on so many areas of children's policy and practice.

??“We are aiming to significantly change the odds for the most vulnerable children and I am very much looking forward to working with Leon to make this happen."
