Children's centre joint working programme kicks off

1 min read Early Years
A pilot programme launching next week will aim to encourage joint working between children's centres.

The National College for School Leadership (NCSL) is launching a pilot programme on Monday (23 February), aimed at getting leaders of Sure Start Children's Centres working together within local authority areas.

The pilot will involve nominated leaders of children's centres undertaking a four-day course to explore ways of achieving authority-wide outcomes through partnership and joint-working between a range of agencies.

Following this, between April 2009 and March 2010 leaders of children's centres will work with their local communities and other local leaders to identify if these methods achieve better outcomes for children and families.

They will also assess whether the methods adopted would make a significant contribution to the government's 21st-Century Schools consultation, which sets out proposals to increase partnership working in schools.

The eight local authority pilot areas have nominated 13 children centre leaders to participate in the programme.

The pilot areas are Leicester, Bradford, Luton, Haringey, Cornwall, Barnsley, Richmond, Hertfordshire, Dudley and Tower Hamlets.
