Children help plan play spending

Children from 21 Brent primary schools have helped decide how to spend more than 1 million pounds on play areas.

The local authority received the money from the Department for Children, Schools and Families as part of its Playbuilder scheme.

The money will help create innovative and exciting play areas that are inclusive for children with disabilities and those from minority groups.

The children were taken on a bus tour of four play parks and were asked for their opinions on how the sites could be developed.

Nine sites will be created or refurbished in 2008-09 and a further seven will be set up in 2010.
