The Jack Petchey Foundation launched Jack Petchey’s community awards in April to recognise young people from London and Essex working to support the coronavirus response in their area.

The charity has so far received 500 nominations and has announced 30 winners who have each been awarded £50 and a letter from Sir Jack to congratulate them.

All 500 nominees have received a certificate to recognise their efforts.

Recent winners include:

Cynthia Nakandi, 15, from Kingston-upon-Thames

Cynthia felt that hospital cleaners were being overlooked as key workers and worked with charity Peace First to create gift cards to send to cleaners at Kingston Hospital.
