The project, coordinated by youth charity Creative Youth Network, has been given a funding boost of £4.25m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, bringing it closer to reaching its overall £6.5m fundraising target.
The money will be used to transform a derelict magistrates’ court in the city into a space for creative enterprises to work and support young people from diverse backgrounds.
It will help disadvantaged young people access creative and heritage industries through enterprise workshops, mentoring and paid internships.
The hub will also house tenant organisations, bringing in an expected £5m to the local economy, as well as creating more than 110 new jobs once fully open.
