Care leavers receive £10m support boost

1 min read Social Care
A total of £10m will be made available to organisations that support young people making the transition from the care system to adult life, it has been announced.

The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, an independent grant-making body said its new Young People Leaving Care funding stream will be open to applications for projects that ensure care leavers are decision makers in the choices that affect their lives.

The new funding stream is expected to provide around £2m each year over the next five years.

Money will be made available to charities that are able to help care leavers form healthy relationships that assist them in making a successful transition to adulthood.

Alternatively, projects that seek to provide young people leaving care with a consistently high standard of statutory support that has been informed by their views will also be eligible for funding.
