
It wants to see a charter implemented UK-wide to guarantee carers are valued and positioned as “key members of the social care workforce”.
Failing to give the role more credibility among support services “risks undermining their ability to fully meet the needs of the children and young people they are caring for”, it warns.
Fostering Network chief executive Kevin Williams says that currently several services have a charter in place, which is “having a positive impact on both children and the foster carer workforce.”
“We are calling on the remaining services across the UK to embed a charter, support our foster carers and ensure our our children have the childhood they deserve,” he said.
