Earlier this month CYP Now reported that the department is set to make savings that include cutting £135m of education quangos' budgets, £100m from extended services and £50m funding for golden hellos to attract new applicants to teaching. £21m is expected to be saved from reorganisation of the DCSF's "backroom staff".
Additionally the DCSF has said it will also work with schools to save £950m through measures including improving procurement and lowering energy usage.
While further education colleges and children's centres will be expected to save around £150m in total.
