EU citizens resident in the UK as of 31 December have to apply for residency status under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) to continue to live, work and have access to support. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2021.

Those who fail to apply for residency after this date risk living unlawfully in the UK, which would exclude them for benefits, renting accommodation and being able to access NHS and other support services.

The warning has come from youth homelessness charity Centrepoint and legal charity AIRE Centre, which is supporting EU families living and working the in UK to achieve the status.
