Blackburn with Darwen council faces judicial review over cuts to short breaks service

A High Court challenge has been launched against Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council following its decision to withdraw funding for a short breaks service that supports more than 20 disabled children.

A judicial review has been launched by two families who are seeking to overturn the council’s decision to stop funding for charity Kids, which has been providing the authority’s short breaks service.

One mother involved in the legal proceedings said: "I believe that action is needed in the present case in order to stop the proposed changes that would massively impact in an extremely negative way upon children with substantial needs.
