
The error happened while the council-owned trust, which runs children’s services in the city, was working with two neighbouring families.
This saw a child protection plan sent to one of the families containing personal information and criminal allegations about a child from the other family.
This information had been sent in error after being copied from the minutes of a meeting.
In handing the Trust a reprimand the ICO found that the council “did not have appropriate policies or sufficient practical guidance in place to ensure the security of personal information”.
The ICO has called on the trust to improve its data protection policies and have clear procedures around producing and distributing social care documents.
