Brent Council said it will outsource 14 of its 17 children’s centres to the charity as part of a four-year contract worth £9.34m, to begin this autumn.
It said the decision was due to the local authority having to find savings of around £54m over the next two years.
The deal with Barnardo's, which already manages 170 children's centres across England and Northern Ireland, will save it a total of around £750,000.
Ruth Moher, lead member for children and young people at Brent Council, said the local authority is finding it harder than ever to protect frontline services due to "unprecedented cuts".
“That’s why I’m pleased we have been able to agree to award a contract to Barnardo’s which will keep open these 14 children’s centres in Brent so they can continue to provide such fantastic support to many children and families.”
Lynn Gradwell, director of Barnardo’s in London, said the charity will work hard to make the transition for staff "as seamless as possible".
“Barnardo’s is committed to providing the very best service to children and young people in Brent, to their parents and carers, to the council and to the dedicated staff members who will transfer over to Barnardo’s,” she said.
