
Between 2009/10 and 2010/11, 60.8 per cent of councils under Conservative control at the time (48 out of 79) cut spending on services for young people.
This compares to 47.6 per cent of Liberal Democrat-controlled councils spending less (10 out of 21) and 38.8 per cent (12 out of 31) of Labour authorities.
Of authorities with no single party having overall control, or run by an independent party, 71.4 per cent (15 of 21) showed an increase with five cutting spending and one, Hartlepool, remaining the same.
Details of provision for youth services in every local authority in England were released in response to a parliamentary question by Karen Buck, Labour spokeswoman on youth issues, who has analysed the data.
