ADCS Conference: DCSs should have access to experienced mentors

Directors of children's services (DCSs) should do more to make sure their expertise is not lost when they retire, the chief executive of the National College for School Leadership said today.

Speaking at the Association of Directors of Children's Services annual conference, Steve Munby told delegates that experienced DCSs should mentor those who are new to the profession.

He said: From September, I want every new DCS to have access to an accredited mentor. That's why I'm calling on highly effective DCSs to volunteer for the role, to ensure the next generation benefit from their unique skills and experience.
