2 mins read Education
A £1m scheme to narrow the education attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers has been launched in Richmond.
Joe Porter, headteacher of Darell Primary and Nursery School, said the scheme aims to embed family support across six settings

The project includes work to integrate family support teams in schools, help pupils when they move between primary and secondary schools, and to improve support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The Narrowing the Gap grant scheme is being rolled out in the Richmond area of London by charity Richmond Foundation in partnership with local charities, community groups, schools and Achieving for Children (AfC), the social enterprise that runs children’s services in the borough.

Three grants have been awarded as part of the first two-year phase of funding totalling £467,300.

This includes a project to integrate family support services across six primary schools in Richmond.
