Youth Club Activities - Risk-taking behaviour

4 mins read Youth Work
Young people are highly prone to taking risks. Vanessa Rogers shares her activity ideas on making them aware of the consequences.

TAKING RISKS

Aim: This is a small group activity to explore attitudes to risk-taking and promote discussion.

You will need:

- Flipchart paper

- Markers

How to do it: Ask the young people to choose a partner to work with and ask each pair to identify five risk-taking activities that are admired in our society. This could include things such as mountain climbing, skiing, or sailing around the world.

When they have completed this task, ask each pair to join another to make a group of four and share what they have on their lists. Start a whole group feedback to discuss the types of activities identified. Are there any clear themes?
