The children's social care sector is complex and the outcomes we aim for are arguably harder to define and measure than in other sectors.
Our work has the greatest impact when we operate in partnership with people delivering and receiving services. That is why we have a range of stakeholder and expert advisory groups – including experts by experience – and a terrific group of young advisers who hold us to account, support, guide and challenge us. I have a background in social work and one of my leadership priorities is ensuring our research agenda is informed by the issues that are most challenging for practitioners and the children and families they work with.
