As the cost of living continues to rise, food banks and charities supporting vulnerable children and families have warned they are facing “the most challenging winter ever”.

Research from Centrepoint finds that four in five organisations supporting vulnerable young people have seen an increase in demand due to the cost-of-living crisis.

Homelessness among young people is also on the rise, with Centrepoint’s helpline experiencing a 44 per cent increase in calls in November compared with the same month last year.

As the sector faces a challenging winter, CYP Now looks at initiatives to support struggling children and families over the festive period.

Food poverty 

The Trussell Trust has launched its first ever emergency fund, stating that “the soaring cost of living means more and more people are being forced to use food banks”.
