This inspirational, engaging and down-to-earth book is a collection of care leavers' experiences, aimed at young people in care. It's written in a jargon-free, informal style and each diary entry gives the reader an impression of the individual's own story, including some personal quotes representing their journey.
There are a wide range of themes covered, including accessing education, unemployment, depression and teenage pregnancy. Experiences of overcoming financial struggles and gaining employment struck a particular chord, as this is a worry for many care leavers in this financial climate, including myself as I am nearing the end of my university course.
Each writer has broken the stigma of being in care or being just a statistic by showing their confidence and determination in their individual circumstances to progress to success.
