
Although children and young people show remarkable resilience, it remains clear that exposure to violence can result in a range of psychological problems including depression, anxiety and PTSD.
It can impair brain development, damage parts of the nervous system and leave young people with potential lifelong physical and mental health impacts.
It is vital that as services and youth practitioners, we champion a public health response to the mental health impacts of youth violence, one which is a holistic approach to young people’s health.
