Free Loaves on Fridays will contain essays by people with experience of the care system, as well as other creative pieces of writing.

Published by Unbound, with proceeds going to children’s rights charity Article 39 and the Together Trust, the book will be edited by care leaver Rebekah Pierre – a social worker and a writer, who has previously published her own diary entries from being in care.

The call for submissions has been issued to anyone who was in care for any period aged 17 and under.

Pierre is urging anyone who “wants to help change the public's understanding of what it means to be care experienced”, to share their work.
