The research was prompted by an interest in whether and how mentoring could be used with young people at risk of involvement in gang activity. It was especially welcomed at the Centre for Youth Impact, as it provides context for our work with providers of the Talent Match employability programme, helping them to explore and articulate what quality looks like in the one-to-one relationships at the heart of their work.

The findings are drawn from a review of existing literature, analysis of more than 350 mentoring programmes being delivered across England, and interviews with mentoring experts from the UK and US.
