This book is described as a self-help guide for recovery. It is the latest volume from Anna Paterson and largely based on her own experiences of anorexia.
The book is designed to help those contemplating recovery and is suitable for anyone suffering from anorexia.
Paterson had a troubled childhood and the first chapter describes how her family relationships, antidepressants and misdiagnosis affected her eating disorder. She explains how the dedication of certain mental health professionals helped her, and she dedicates the book to her husband and his family, who were the final step on her road to recovery.
The book has a wealth of information on anorexia. It is part writer's comments and experiences, and part useful exercises. Anna takes the reader along her path of recovery and describes the different therapies available, how to deal with triggers and dangerous behaviour, anger management, how to build confidence and how to live at a healthy weight.
