Seems as though the threat to the reputation of the UK's young people comes not from the traditionally suspected route (older people) but from a demographic much closer to their own. An interactive poll asked 773 people over the age of 16 for their views on teenagers earlier this summer; under half of 25–34 year olds believe teenagers are ‘irresponsible’, but this figure drops to a quarter for people over 55. Maybe it's not the grumpy old men and women whose perceptions need to be changed, but those of their older siblings.
