
As newly appointed Department for Education ministers get to grips with their briefs, I’ve been reflecting on those in the sector who already know the answers to the problems in the SEND system.
In the eight years since the 2014 Children and Families Act reforms were introduced, we’ve been listening to autistic children, young people, parents, teachers, FE staff, health colleagues, social workers, and local authority managers - all working hard to deliver what they can and tearing their hair out at the bits that don’t work.
So - what are the answers? Do we need a shiny new system with new laws and new structures? Probably not.
