Getting a clearer picture on troubled families in Swindon

There has been some to-ing and fro-ing in the media recently about the progress councils are making in tackling the issues around troubled families and how the initiative is working in practice. So I thought this would be a good time to share with you one approach that is reaping rewards in Swindon.

Following a successful pilot project funded by Swindon Borough Council, the police and the NHS to provide targeted support for 20 vulnerable families, the council wanted to develop the work more broadly across the borough. 

Swindon had brought all professionals working with children and young people together into four integrated teams. These include health visitors, speech and language practitioners, professionals from education welfare and disabled children teams, social workers, the voluntary sector and children’s centres.
