I was reading Shot By Both Sides, the blog of the estimable Kerry McCarthy. She wrote about a motion that the Youth Parliament should be allowed to use the Commons chamber for a debate during recess. The Youth Parliament is allowed to use the Lords, and they were trying to get the same access to the Commons. The Tories tried to block it, having already made their disapproval clear, and did so in an appropriately childlike manner. The motion had to be called by 7pm, or it fell. They kept bringing up old motions that had been gathering dust for years until inevitably they ran out of time to call the motion. Fortunately the filibustering was evetually overcome.
