Why is there a problem with children and their development when they live in areas of disadvantage?
This is one of the more complicated challenges the government and the early years providers have to face and I am sure there are many far more qualified that I that can give a multitude of reasons for this but this is one possible take on the problem.
I do not accept that just because a child comes from an area of deprivation there is something inherently wrong it that child's ability to learn but learning at this age is an experience mixed with excitement, enjoyment, adventure, challenges, interesting and lots of other wonderful emotions that a quality early years setting will provide but there is one big element of learning at this age I have not mentioned and there needs to bucket loads of this and that is FUN!! That said, I do not imply that there's not lots of setting within these areas are not providing the children in their care with bucket loads of fun, I'm sure there are.
