ContactPoint goes offline, Ministers hand over to Heineken to improve organisation

ContactPoint, the joined up, high-tech and secure communications system for Children's Services has gone awol, presumably in a bit of a technical huff. Just days ago, the new database was roundly condemned by the Rowntree foundation for failing to address data collation ethical issues.

National safeguarding strategy would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic. You'd think it couldn't get worse, so you know it will. Rumour has it the 10.38 from Clapham Junction is being considered as a secure location for national data, but they can't find the key for the guard's van.

I can feel a DCSF departmental calendar coming on: January's pin-up will be the lovely Christine Gilbert, holding up a reliable Ofsted inspection. The face of February is that nice man Ed Balls - pictured with all his Directors of Children's services skipping back to school together. March shows a silhouette: our much-maligned mystery sponsor helping data reach all parts of the UK, unfortunately. As for April.....
