Is there a bright side to all this gloom? Over the last year I’ve been inspired by hearing about superb work being done by public sector workers, by charities, and by young people themselves. The CYPN Awards are an important showcase, of course, but there are many examples across the country. But they all need resources. We must prioritise action to help children in poverty – and that means government and local councils in particular – or the consequences will be dire for us all.
