Participation in Action: Children take to airwaves to discuss risks of running away

2 mins read Participation
Young people with experience of running away from home have created a radio show designed to deter other young people from running away.

Provider: Unity Radio and Railway Children

Name: Next Gen Youth radio project

Since 1999, an estimated 100,000 children in the UK have run away from home each year, with some groups of children, including those in care, those absent or excluded from school and children whose parents' relationships have broken down, more likely to run away.

Earlier this year, Railway Children, an international charity that works with children and young people in the UK, India and East-Africa who are at risk of living on the streets, launched a radio project for young runaways in Liverpool to help deter other young people from running away.
