
Established programme for young people affected by bullying is adapted for online delivery during Covid-19 pandemic
Most participants felt more assertive in responding to bullying and nearly three quarters report a reduction in incidents
ACTION
Charity Kidscape has been running in-person ZAP workshops helping children affected by bullying for the last 17 years but took the decision to move them online in 2020 due to Covid restrictions.
As part of the online programme, Kidscape practitioners work with young people via group video sessions in a bid to raise their self-esteem, equip them with assertiveness skills, and improve their awareness of online dangers.
Ashley Rolfe, head of programmes, training and volunteering at the charity, says Covid posed a significant challenge for the work stream, but the move online has proved so successful that it now forms a central plank of their ongoing efforts.
